  • Dr. David Visser, Co-Director

    Dr. David Visser is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  He is recognized in Michiana for his weekly segment on WNDU-16 Saturday Morning show as the “Pet Vet”.  His television work earned him national recognition by the Veterinary News Network and he is a charter member of the American Society of Veterinary Journalists.  He has also written articles for the Family Magazine of Michiana as well as other local publications.  Dr. Visser has served as chair of the Alumni Council of the MSU CVM, President of the Michiana Veterinary Medical Association, board member of the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, as well as other pet charitable organizations in our community.  His surgical skills have earned him respect and referrals from local veterinary practices, but he provides all aspects of medical, preventive and dental care for dogs and cats.  Outside of the practice, Dr. Visser enjoys music and is a 1st violinist with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra.  Although this dedicated veterinarian and practice owner takes his work exceptionally seriously, he sometimes loves nothing more than rolling on the floor with his golden retriever and snuggling with his beloved cats!

  • Dr. Karen Visser, Co-Director

    Dr. Karen D.Visser is a proud graduate from Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to veterinary school, she also received a BS degree in Biological Sciences from MSU. Being an absolute lover of animals, science, & teaching, becoming a veterinarian was a natural outcome of those interests, and lifelong dream come true. She has a special interest in homeopathy, acupuncture, nutrition and other methods of natural healing. She enjoys combining her traditional medical training knowledge with those complimentary healing methods in order to enhance her own unique style of practice. Among her personal interests, she enjoys spending time with her family, husband David, sons Anders and Nico, their dog, Lady, and cat, Simon.  She loves playing guitar, going to the beach, camping, traveling, reading, watching movies, and MSU Spartan basketball!  She places a high priority on keeping herself spiritually healthy by staying close to God, and on staying physically healthy through  regular exercise, a vegan diet, and practicing yoga.  She knows that to help to keep her patients healthy and happy, she too must practice what she preaches!

  • Dr. Melissa O'Brien

    Joining Center for Animal Health in 2018, Dr. Melissa is an absolutely wonderful addition to our veterinary professional staff! Always eager to find just the right solutions for your pets’ health care needs, she provides excellent, well thought out plans of diagnostics and care, all in a very easy to understand and open way. Personally, she enjoys exploring parks, hiking and walking trails, trying new restaurants, local fairs, and sharing fun experiences with her husband, Paul. She also loves gardening, watching movies, traveling, and cooking. She currently has two wonderful pets, Guinness and Sake.

  • Heather - Inventory Specialist

    Heather cares for patients and clients as an Inventory Specialist. After many years of experience, you can count on Heather to help you when you come in for any area of the practice. Her fun loving personality will be sure to make you laugh, and help to put you and your pet at ease! Heather shares her home with her husband, Stacey, and her son, Alex. They enjoy spending time with family at the lake. Look for Heather next time you visit us! 

  • Nichole - Veterinary Technician

    Nichole is a well educated and compassionate, Licensed Veterinary Technician. She provides highly skilled care for pets when assisting our doctors, and while they may be staying with us for medical care such as Xrays, surgery, and dental cleanings. She pampers patients during routine procedures and makes sure all your questions are answered!  Nichole lives with her wonderful daughter Jade and her Siberian Husky, Riggs. She loves to be outside and enjoys disc golfing, walking, and running a 5K every year!  She loves spending time with her family.  Nichole will be here to help at your next visit!

  • Kelsi - Veterinary Technician

    Wow! You will absolutely love working with Kelsi! A licensed veterinary technician with personality and excellent technical skills, we are sure that you will find comfort and confidence in her care for your beloved companions! She is intelligent, kind, and filled with endless energy no matter what comes her way. Excellence in patient care and comfort are a high priority with her every interaction. Kelsi loves to spend her personal time staying active, especially with her love of sand volleyball. She has 4 dogs; Mally hound mix, Bomber fox hound mix, Tillie beagle and Goose her newest golden retriever. 

  • Sara - Veterinary Technician

    Sara is one of our hospital’s Veterinary Technicians and your pet’s new best friend! Her warm smile and calming words make you realize that you are in good hands. Outside of the profession, Sara enjoys reading, baking, watching movies, playing video games, and getting together with friends. She has two wonderful cats, Remmy and Lola, plus newest additions, Gracie, a wonderful German Shepherd. 

  • Melissa - Technician Assistant

    Melissa brings to our team many years of experience and so many unique qualities, that she shines as a veterinary technician assistants. She has a quiet confidence and a gentle way that your pets will instantly find comforting. Melissa is an avid learner of veterinary care, and has a special interest in neuropsychiatry.  Outside of her veterinary care interests, she speaks Japanese, loves music, and plays the violin and guitar. If Melissa doesn’t have the answer to a question, rest assured, she will find it, and then some!  She loves spending time with her cat, Domo, her dogs, Emma and Noah, and has a soft spot in her heart for guinea pigs!

  • Niki - Client Service Specialist

    Niki is a Client Service Specialist and will be here to help when you call or come in to see us. Look for her the next time you come see us, she would love to answer your questions and make sure you and your pet are taken care of! Niki has a new addition Ruger a black lab retriever mix puppy at home, and will be getting chickens soon! She also enjoys gardening, reading, and learning to play guitar. Look for Niki next time you come by!

  • Dana - Office Manager

    Dana brings her bubbly hospitality and open heart to our client service department, along with her naturally helpful nature. You will benefit from her many years of training and confidence. She has a special love for volunteering her time at Prairie Vista Elementary with her fabulous Standard Poodle, Sophie, a Certified Therapy Dog. Dana brings joy wherever she goes, and her dedication with sharing Sophie with the children is an overflow of her love. Dana loves spending time with her husband and three sons. Traveling, quilting and playing indoor soccer are just a few of the many passions. You will love meeting and working with Dana!

  • Anna- Animal Health Assistant

    Anna is a fantastic Animal Health Assistant with years of experience in clinics. She grew up on a farm helping to take care of all types of animals from an early age. She loves to help all creatures and spends her free time spoiling her own pets at home or spending time with her family. 
  • Kathy- Animal Health Assistant

    Kathy and her bright smile are here as an Animal Health Assistant. She has loads of experience from her volunteer and workplaces prior. She loves to spend her time with husband and her 2 children. She has a great big spot in her heart for her husky Thor. In her free time she loves to makes desserts and enjoys the beach. She is passionate sports watcher as her children have grown with soccer and volleyball. 
  • Kayla- Groomer

    Kayla has a great big heart which she shares with all around her. She has been a groomer with us for a few years and is now also an Animal Health Assistants. She loves spending time going to the park with her sons Eli and Evan. She has 2 dogs Bernie chocolate lab and Athena a collie mix. She loves her work and has a special place for all animals.
